Went on a Monday, which happened to be free pool. Them they were having a smash game. We didn't play but there were others that were into it. Good times.
Something about Johnny. It's my main bar. I go for the atmosphere, 4 pools tables, drinks are decently cheap, but the music can get abonoxiously loud.
My best friend works here so I may be a little biased. I come here in the early pm so I can't speak to the night crowd but Johnny's has some cheap specials and what's not on draft then they have a decent selection of bottles and cans. From what I've heard, poker Saturdays are fun. If you want to watch sports there are quite a few TVs where they are playing and even a movie playing too. Bunch of pool tables to boot too. If you're bougie then keep in mind that the bar is more akin to a dive bar so don't expect classy drinks or cocktails you'd find on an island resort.
Monday's at Johnny's rule! Free pool, 2.50 pints, and they have a Nintendo Switch set up to play on a projector! They also have free hot dogs when you get a drink! Cool staff, great vibes, and drink prices are the cheapest around! It may be a "dive bar" by most standards but it's a true GEM!
In the handful of times I've visited Johnny's it's been pretty great. Yes, it's loud. Yes, people suck at karaoke lol. And yes, the bartenders get busy some nights but omg they are humans! I love the trashcan, it's prolly my favorite drink. And bartenders have been so cool and they're just trying to run the business when people want their drinks quickly. The haters can go somewhere else, Johnny's is not that bad
Staple of SLC! Save the South Park pinball machine! It’s my favorite and it’s been broken for so long!
Great vibe. CHEAP drinks! Seemed like a local divey type place. Dont ask for a smoked old fashoned w rosemary though ;) Mixed crowd, friendly. Did karaoke on Wed nite. Pool tables were popular. And smoking out front. Didn't eat. Servers were attentive and nice. (Forgot their names-- the local woman w cool tatts and the newbie from Tx.)
The service is generally very good, can be a bit slow but it's worth the trade-off for bartenders that are fun to talk to and build a real connection with the patrons at the bar. They also have a great selection and are the only bar in town that offers my favorite amber ale. This has been my regular spot for nearly 2 years and will continue to be for a long time
